Controversy Once Again

Posted on February 18, 2008

Going through a few articles online such as Once More into the Breach, Dear Friends, Once More and read a few other blog posts linked there, and I got more information about my previous post.

Well for one thing I didn’t know that even executives were part of the rally last Friday. So I guess not all people were bothered about it. Not as much. Unlike those who don’t take into interest in these rallies like me and my family. Everything just seemed to have stopped during that time. Well, they might have, considering that employees where there, even their executives!

I was again watching the news last Saturday, I think, while I was at the kitchen waiting for my sister to start baking… Everyone seemed to be looking for the late Cardinal Sin (the former Archbishop of Manila) who seem to have lead the fight during the late President Ferdinand Marcos and the impeachment of former President Joseph Ejercito “Erap” Estrada. He had to lead those fights, right? Because it was for the benefit of all the people in the country. I mean, President Marcos was leading in dictatorship, President Estrada had all these affairs, and his jueteng (some sort of gambling) scandals, all of the houses he owned was said to have come from his corruption back then (which by the way was not as much kept underground if you ask me). So, again, what are we fighting for here? If Cardinal Sin were still here, would he have fought?

I’m thinking this all started with the “Hello Garci” tapes way back then. I don’t know the whole story behind that cause I wasn’t much into news back then. I just remember that I think back then, President Gloria’s phone wire was tapped during the elections somehow by someone and of course, overheard her conversation with this Garci person about the election ballots I think… Gah… I forgot… :sweatdrop:

So anyway, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo had already survived almost 2 or 3 impeachment trials. What makes everyone think that she can’t survive this one…? Well, I don’t know if I’m just being biased or I’m just leaning over to the President’s side on this… But in my point of view, I just think that rallies are not the answer for these types of issue. I mean, what the heck is this country coming to anyway?! They vote for a set of politicians, then after a few months they get tired of him or her and actually try to form groups for coup de tat or maybe start up a rally because they heard a specific issue of something of the sort. Nothing seems to be private anymore.

LittleMssPerplexed is right… We cannot change the government by just impeaching people that we don’t want and actually MARCHING down the streets the Metro Manila disturbing each and everyone of the citizens of the country that has NO plans of doing so! Well, everyone seemed to have thought that, “Oh, I have a problem with her. Do you also have a problem with her? Let’s go and create a rally!” Gez. PEOPLE! THINK! If every time you don’t like a person, you don’t just go down the streets and yell out your concerns!

Fine, people do have a say on what the government would do… Of course they should have and the government should also consider these voices because they are where they are because of all these people. But hey, these politicians… They are not who we think they are! Just look at them. They seem to be resolving an issue about ZTE Broadband where when you look around the country, a lot of people are STARVING! And what do they do? As far as I can see, nothing is happening. Well, my mom is right in one part with these starving people… Give them a home to live in and they go about selling the place so that they have money. Then they’d go back to the squatters… Then they voice out again that they are starving. Shesh.

Jun Lozada, the owner of the ZTE Broadband. Was his testimony true or not? The story behind that is up for them to decide. But, who the HECK would like about being “abducted” from the airport and going about the city just to escape the media. Then is FORCED to write and sign an affidavit that they requested some sort of military security from these people. Seriously… I DO NOT know what is HECK happening in this country.

People Power I (EDSA Revolution for the impeachment of Pres. Marcos), People Power II (EDSA Revolution for the impeachment of Pres. Estrada)…. I just hope that this is enough. And nothing else will follow.I also got the chance to hear… I forgot where though… But anyway… I heard that the Senate was trying to get all leaders around the world to help them in impeaching the current President of the country…. I mean, what the heck! Politicians are voted into office to work WITH EACH OTHER for the BETTER of the country, and NOT to work with each other to IMPEACH the current President.

Sigh… I just hope everyone who joins in these rallies know what they are doing and not just because they WANT to have her impeached for their own reasons, not for the entire country.
