Country Crisis

Posted on February 16, 2008

I’ve lacked the time to actually watch the news lately. All I know is that there is this ZTE Broadband thing going on in the government that they are considering to have the entire country wired (much like the wireless stuff in Japan I guess…) And while I was on a break a while ago since I went home, I stumbled upon the news channel. Curious about what has been happening in the country - since Tuesday that has been bothering me cause we were "required" to answer a few set of questions which I was SO clueless about.

Which is where I learned that there was a rally a while ago at the business center of our country, Makati. Just so happens that it was in the intersection where I usually pass through to get to our condo there. Luckily, I didn’t go there today, instead I went home to the province.

ANYWAY. So, there was once again another protest of the people about the current president of the country. Everyone doesn’t seem to like her. I don’t know why and I don’t know what she did wrong for them to be wanting to impeach her. True that she may have done something in the past. But hey, the economy of the country is growing! And of course, not everyone sees that. For them, the higher the exchange rate of dollars is good because a lot depends on other people who are abroad. But when it really comes to the economy, having a lower exchange rate is BETTER!

Anyway, I seriously don’t know why they are giving a BIG fuss about that ZTE Broadband deal. It didn’t even push through for crying out loud.Sigh… I guess that’s politics…I just hope that the people would actually let her finish her term as president RATHER than causing all this commotion and giving a hassle to most people that they don’t even know. Like say the flow of traffic in the country, which is by the way NOT AT ALL good. Gez.

[...] It’s interesting how people have been following the Senate hearings. See My Life and Inspirations (Feb. 8), Take it Easy, Smile (Feb. 11) who feels overhwelmed, and Sabistski Point (Feb. 12),while [slap happy] .an OFW (Feb 10) says the whole thing is fascinating and urges people to follow the hearings and make up their own minds. AKOMISMO Vol. II is using the whole thing as a teaching aid. the in’s and out’s of the twisted mind of the nomadic asian polar bear says it may sow the seeds for change (Spendor of Creation on Feb. 7, called it the need for “positive politics”). Law and ICT reflects on government projects in general. As does Lofty Quest. [...]
