Clark Field hosts the annual and international Hot Air Balloon Festival. It looked fun that time.. And, since we had pictures of my parents and my older sisters riding a Hot Air Balloon when they were little, I thought I could ride too!
Too bad I can’t. Turns out that the reason why they were able to ride one then was because they were the only ones there. Something like their radio station started it or something back then.
Radio station – remember the times when telephones were not being used and they found radio frequencies as the fastest way to communicate with other people? Well, we had one here too. And my parents were very active in their group. We even had the operators and their radio equipments at my grandparent’s house – there’s a building separate from the house at the very back (like another lot) and that is where they were then; it’s now my Uncle’s flower shop.
It was 1990′s probably. Either I was still very very young (most probably a baby) or I wasn’t even born yet, when they rode the Hot Air Balloon.
Last year’s Valentines day was almost perfect. I was up around 6 and picked him up from the bus station and we went straight to the 15th Hot Air Balloon Festival at Clark Field. Valentines day last year was a Sunday so we were both free from work and all that busy crap.
We watched the Hot Air Balloons float from outside the fences because the line to enter the place was so long. Plus, we didn’t have our tickets then – if I remember correctly, they were with my sister who was still asleep that time.
After the balloons were at flight and had all flown away, we went back to our house. Since we were up that early and my parents hasn’t left for mass, we went with them.
We had breakfast, then went back to the festival after having lunch.
Although we did nothing but sleep at the festival (it was so hot, there was nothing else to do), we had fun and at least we were together. That’s what counts right?
That same night, we waited for the Night Glow where all the Hot Air Balloons were lit up in the night sky. Not in the air though.
This year’s Valentines is a lot different than last year. For one thing, Valentines falls on a Monday. Next is, we are tired of going to the festival and just burning our skins. We decided not to go. Instead, he talked to me last night while we were out with my friends and asked me not to go home next Friday. He told me that since it was also out “monthsary”, we’d celebrate both Valentines day and our monthsary on the same date. Fine with me. Problem is, I don’t know where we are going to do on the 18th.. He won’t tell me.. :|
